President Donald Trump on Thursday continued his attacks on CNN during his trip to Poland, saying that the network is facing “serious problems” and covers him “in a very, very dishonest way.”
Speaking alongside Polish President Andrzej Duda during a press conference in Warsaw, Trump also criticized NBC even though, he claimed, the network made ‘a fortune” with “The Apprentice,” the reality TV show Trump hosted.
But Trump reserved his strongest criticism for CNN, which came under fire this week after it published a story on a Reddit user who posted a World Wrestling Entertainment video portraying Trump hitting a man with a CNN logo super-imposed on the his face.
After the story posted, CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski wrote online that the network chose not to publish the Reddit poster’s name because he showed remorse, is a private citizen and promised not to do it again, but “reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.” That statement caused a fierce backlash, with some writing on Twitter and other social media platforms that CNN “blackmailed” the Reddit user.
“I think what CNN did was unfortunate for them. As you know, now they have some pretty serious problems. They have been fake news for a long time,” Trump said, when asked about the episode. “CNN has really taken it too seriously. I think they’ve hurt themselves badly. Very, very badly.”
